DIR EN GREY Confirmed For Finland's ANKKAROCK Festival
January 30, 2007Japanese band DIR EN GREY has been confirmed for the Ankkarock festival, set to take place August 4-5 in Korso, Vantaa, Finland.
DIR EN GREY's video for the song "Agitated Screams of Maggots" has been posted online at this location (Windows Media). The track is set to appear on the band's new album, "The Marrow of a Bone", due in the U.S on February 20 via Warcon Enterprises to coincide with the group's 10-year anniversary and their first North American headlining tour (which kicks off February 1 in Ft. Lauderdale). The CD will contain 13 tracks, including the singles "Clever Sleazoid" and "Ryoujoku No Ame" (also featured on the "Family Values Tour 2006" CD).
Despite the fact that many of DIR EN GREY songs are heavy, agressive and full of screaming, the first pressing of the album will come with a bonus CD containing classically arranged versions of the band's songs.
DIR EN GREY made its stateside debut with a showcase at the South by Southwest Music and Media Conference in Austin, Texas in March before following it up by stops at the 800-capacity Avalon in New York and the 2,000-capacity Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles (both of which sold out within hours of being announced online). An appearance at this summer's The Family Values Tour alongside KORN, DEFTONES, STONE SOUR and FLYLEAF brought the group further acclaim, a stint which was captured for the upcoming "The Family Values Tour 2006" CD and DVD, due on December 26 via Firm Music.
The Japanese-speaking band gained its audience without singing in English, according to Billboard.com. The quintet has been building in popularity in its home country for 10 years, releasing four full-length albums through either Firewall Div or Free-Will Japan and a variety of singles and video collections.
DIR EN GREY's "Withering to Death" album was released in the U.S. in May via Warcon Enterprises.
